Delta Community Action Foundation Inc. is a private, non-profit corporation organized for the purpose of executing, coordinating and planning programs authorized by federal, state and local entities to alleviate and attempt to eradicate poverty in Garvin, McClain and Stephens Counties. Delta and its partners work to promote self-sufficiency among our low-income citizens to secrue the opportunities to work and to live with dignity. Two programs in Garvin County are the Delta Head Start for children (located at 309 E. Charles) and the Delta Public Transit. Delta Transit provides public transportation services to county residents. This includes door-to-door transportation for doctor office visits and social, nutritional, entertainment and other needs. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fee is $2.50 for each in-town stop, with other charges for trips outside Pauls Valley. Call 866-THAT-BUS (842-8287).
Established in 1929 by R. B. "Bob" Garvin, the firm's current shareholders are Brett Agee and James W. Carlton, Jr., both of whom joined the firm in 1988. The firm practices in many diverse fields and represents many diverse clients. In 2001, the firm became one of the very few firms to have argued and won an appeal to the United States Supreme Court.
